ARGENTINA: Senate strikes down Milei’s supreme court picks

Argentina’s senate mustered quorum on 3 April to vote on President Javier Milei’s appointment of two supreme court judges by decree last month. Milei has managed to succeed against the odds, time after time, in important congressional votes despite the paucity of seats in the hands of his far-right La Libertad Avanza (LLA) in either the lower chamber or the senate. Not so this time.
