MEXICO: Government under scrutiny over fatal festival accident

A tragic accident at a music festival in Mexico City (CDMX) on 5 April has led to much finger pointing as authorities at different levels of government scramble to absolve themselves of responsibility. The blame game has been heightened by the fact that the CDMX borough in which the festival took place, Miguel Hidalgo, is in the hands of the right-wing opposition Partido Acción Nacional (PAN), while the head of the CDMX government, Clara Brugada, hails from the federally ruling left-wing Movimiento Regeneración Nacional (Morena) and has the full support of President Claudia Sheinbaum.
