*Paraguay’s central bank (BCP) has released its latest quarterly report, showing that GDP grew by 3.6% year-on-year in the final quarter of 2024, up from growth of 3.1% in the third quarter but down from growth of 5.3% in the second quarter according to the latest updated BCP figures. This brings growth for the year to 4.2%, above the BCP’s forecast of 4%. The BCP highlights strong performances in the fourth quarter in the services (+4.8% year-on-year), construction (+13.6%), manufacturing (+3.1%), product taxation (+8.3%), and livestock, forestry fishing & mining (+2.7%) sectors. Negative results were recorded in the agriculture (-4.3%) and electricity & water (-7.9%) sectors. In terms of spending, the BCP highlights positive results in terms of private consumption (+6.4%), gross fixed capital formation (+13.3%), and government consumption (+5.7%), while net exports recorded a negative result (-6.4%).
