Protests were held in various cities around Bolivia this week over fuel shortages, which President Luis Arce’s government has blamed on a lack of hard currency which is restricting imports. As the economic consequences pile up, this is the latest setback to Arce as he steers the divided left-wing Movimiento al Socialismo (MAS) towards the August general elections.
