Mexico moves on anti-nepotism law - slowly

Mexico’s lower chamber of congress approved a new law on 4 March outlawing nepotism and consecutive re-election, but it delayed the implementation of the law. President Claudia Sheinbaum had proposed that the changes be adopted in 2027 but in the event it will be a further three years before they are introduced. Government allies pushed for the postponement – so that they could engage in a final bout of political nepotism.
