ECUADOR: Pushback over oil deal

Ecuador’s Energy & Mining Minister Inés Manzano has pushed back against criticism of a deal which saw operating rights at one of the country’s most productive oilfields granted to a private consortium. The national assembly released a statement on 1 March alleging that President Daniel Noboa’s administration had rushed the deal through during the Carnival public holiday in order to limit scrutiny of the contract.
