*Mexico’s tourism minister, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, has announced that foreign direct investment (FDI) in the tourism sector totalled US$2.871bn in 2024, marginally higher than the total for 2023 (US$2.870bn). The tourism sector accounted for 7.8% of total FDI last year and was principally concentrated in the states of Baja California Sur (US$1.04bn, 36.2% of the total), Quintana Roo (US$787m, 27.4%), and Nayarit (US$330m, 11.5%).
