Argentina’s President Javier Milei has upended his country’s foreign policy in a gesture of obeisance to US President Donald Trump. That is, at least, the interpretation the country’s political opposition parties placed on Milei’s decision this week to instruct Argentina’s ambassador to the United Nations (UN) to abstain in a vote on a resolution in the UN General Assembly proposed by Ukraine (but opposed by the US) on the third anniversary of Russia’s invasion.
