BRAZIL | Inflation slows in January. The national statistics institute (Ibge) released its latest inflation figures on 11 February, which showed that monthly inflation in January came to 0.16%, while the annual inflation rate stood at 4.56%. In December 2024, monthly inflation was 0.52% and annual inflation closed the year at 4.83%. In a press release, the Ibge highlighted that this latest monthly inflation figure is the lowest on record for the month of January since 1994, the year Brazil adopted the real as its currency as part of a wider series of measures to tame hyperinflation.
