Argentina’s President Javier Milei received a fillip on 6 February when the lower chamber of congress voted in favour of a bill that suspends primary elections (Paso) this year. The vote exposed deep divisions within the Peronist opposition Unión por la Patria (UP). If the senate follows suit, it will mean that there would be no Paso before the mid-term legislative elections in October.
