*Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) has announced that the country received 45.04m international tourists in 2024, marking a 7.4% annual increase. Revenue from international tourism also rose by 5.9% to US$30.25bn. Overall visitor numbers, comprising international tourists and day-trippers, were up 15.5% year-on-year at 86.41m. In December alone, 9.02m visitors entered Mexico, up 14.7% from the same month in 2023. Of these, 4.79m (53.1%) were international tourists, representing a 4.3% year-on-year increase. Meanwhile, 4.23m (46.9%) were day-trippers, up 29.1% year-on-year. Revenue from international tourism in December 2024 totalled US$3.42bn, up 7.6% as compared to December 2023.
