In brief: Brazil’s Embraer advances international aircraft sales

*Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer has secured the support of the state-owned development bank (BNDES) to finance the export of eight commercial jets to US aircraft leasing company Azorra. BNDES has approved export financing of R$1.1bn (US$179m) to cover part of the sale, and the jets will be delivered by the end of next year. In 2024 so far, BNDES has financed the sale of 56 Embraer commercial and military aircraft. Aside from commercial jets, Embraer also agreed a deal yesterday to sell 12 units of its A-29 Super Tucano fighter jets to Portugal’s air force. Last week a delegation from Slovakia, another member state of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (Nato), visited Brazil and expressed interest in Embraer’s C-390 military transport aircraft. According to a statement released by the company on 10 December, Embraer and Slovakia’s defence ministry are expected to begin negotiations next month for the acquisition of three C-390 cargo planes.
