*Argentina’s national statistics institute (Indec) has released its latest figures on economic activity, showing the country’s GDP increased by 3.9% in the third quarter of 2024 as compared to the previous quarter. This follows three consecutive quarters of economic contractions, with the country emerging from the technical recession it entered in the fourth quarter of 2023. In yearly terms, GDP contracted by 2.1%, the sixth consecutive annual drop. Ten sectors registered yearly contractions in Q3 2024 including construction (-14.9%) and fishing (-6.7%). Seven sectors registered year-on-year growth, with the most notable in the agriculture, livestock, hunting, & forestry sector (+13.2%) and hotels & restaurants sector (+9.0%).
