REGION: COP29 falls short for SIDS

The United Nations climate conference summit (COP29) in Baku, Azerbaijan, came to an acrimonious end on 24 November, just salvaging an agreement under which wealthier countries will by 2035 contribute US$300bn a year to help developing countries fund climate change mitigation. This result falls well below the hopes of Caribbean members of the association of Small Island Developing States (SIDS).
