CUBA: Bad news comes in twos

In the last two months bad news for Cuba has come in twos. The island has been battered by two hurricanes, Oscar (Category 1) on 21 October and Rafael (Category 3) on 6 November. Cuba was also hit by two earthquakes off the southeast coast on 10 November causing damage to buildings and infrastructure. The nation’s ageing power grid collapsed not once but twice (by late November only about 50% of households had electricity).
