Ecuador entangled in pre-electoral power struggle

Ecuador’s President Daniel Noboa is locked in an increasingly acrimonious power clash with the national assembly less than two months before presidential and legislative elections on 9 February. The root of the clash between Noboa and the national assembly is a money laundering law, dubbed the ‘Ley Antipillos’, although tensions have been heightened by the proximity of the elections.
