*Mexico’s federal lower chamber of congress has approved the 2025 budget proposal put forward by the Movimiento Regeneración Nacional (Morena) government led by President Claudia Sheinbaum by 353 votes in favour, 128 against, and no abstentions. The proposal, which was approved without changes, is for M$9.30trn (US$462bn), up M$235.97bn on 2024. It has however faced criticism from the private sector which has called for a revision, citing unrealistic growth forecasts as well as concerns over spending cuts.
