Moves to revive gold mining in Central America

The soaring price of gold is prompting governments in Central America to move to row back restrictions on mining in a bid to cash in on the precious metal. In recent days Costa Rica’s President Rodrigo Chaves and El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele have announced their intention to revive gold mining in their countries, which was banned for environmental and public health reasons in both countries.
