In brief: Drop in tourist arrivals to Argentina

 *Argentina’s national statistics institute (Indec) has reported a significant decline in international visitors in October, with only 754,900 arrivals – a drop of 36.6% compared with the same month in 2023. Of these visitors, 47.9% travelled by plane, 40.5% arrived overland and 11.5% came by boat. Notably, 340,800 of the visitors were day-trippers, a figure that has decreased by 42.8% on the same month in 2023. The remaining 414,100 were tourists, down 30.3% year-on-year. According to the Indec report, of the total number of international visitors, 65.5% came from Argentina’s neighbouring countries, with Brazil accounting for 23% and Uruguay for 17.7%.
