*Colombia’s state oil company, Ecopetrol, has denounced the takeover of a natural gas plant in Toledo municipality, in the north-eastern department of Norte de Santander. Ecopetrol said that its Gibraltar plant was occupied by members of the Movimiento Político de Masas Social y Popular del Centro Oriente de Colombia (MPMSPCOC), an activist group that campaigns mostly on land rights issues in central and eastern Colombia. As a result, Ecopetrol said that it had halted operations at the plant, which it said would obstruct the delivery of 38m cubic feet of gas per day to the departments of Santander and Norte de Santander, and to the company’s refinery in Santander’s Barrancabermeja municipality.
