Mixed results for Lula at G20 summit

The past two G20 leaders’ summits, in Indonesia and India, were dominated by discussions about the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine. Divisions over international conflicts featured again in this year’s event in Rio de Janeiro, but the host of the two-day summit, Brazil’s President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, sought to steer the agenda towards issues of concern for his government and of other countries in the Global South, such as addressing hunger and poverty.
