In brief: Brazil’s economic activity up in September

*Brazil’s central bank (BCB) has released its latest economy activity index (IBC-Br), used as a proxy to anticipate GDP figures, which showed that activity in September was up 0.8% in monthly terms and 5.1% year-on-year. This marks the second consecutive month in which the IBC-Br registered a monthly increase. Activity in the third quarter of 2024 was up 1.1% from the previous quarter and up 4.7% compared to Q3 2023. Economic activity for the 12 months until September 2024 was up 3.0% from the previous 12-month period.
