ARGENTINA: Legal setback mars Fernández’s political comeback

No sooner had former president Cristina Fernández (2007-2015) celebrated her coronation as president of Argentina’s main opposition Partido Justicialista (PJ, Peronists) last week than she suffered a significant legal setback when a federal court upheld a conviction of corruption against her. She will now attempt to take the fight to President Javier Milei and lead the PJ to mid-term success in legislative elections this time next year, while appealing the ruling before the supreme court (CSJN).
