Haiti’s interim prime minister Garry Conille has lasted just six months in the job. Last week he was fired by the country’s transitional presidential council (TPC) which has replaced him with businessman Alix Didier Fils-Aimé. Conille’s ejection followed a power struggle with the TPC, with which he was appointed in May to work to both restore security to Haiti, which remains wracked by gang violence, and steer the country towards elections which have not taken place since 2016.
