Mexico’s central state of Querétaro is not typically associated with the high violent crime rates that plague neighbouring states such as Guanajuato, Michoacán, or Estado de México (Edomex). However, on 9 November gunmen burst into Los Cantaritos bar in the state capital, Querétaro city, and opened fire, killing 10 people and injuring many more.
