*Brazil’s national council of coffee exporters (Cecafé) has released its figures for October, which showed an export volume of 4.93m sacks of coffee (one sack = 60 kg), up 11.6% year-on-year. In a press release, Cecafé describes this latest figure as a monthly record. In October, arabica coffee accounted for most of Brazil’s monthly exports, registering 3.7m sacks. The total export revenue in October was also a record figure, registering US$1.39bn, up 62.6% from October last year. Cecafé highlighted that these monthly records came despite logistical challenges in September and praised the efforts by Brazilian companies to find alternative solutions to overcome shipping bottlenecks, such as transporting sacks of coffee as break-bulk cargo stored on ships as individual units rather than in containers.
