Nearshoring: a long term positive?

There is a strong argument to be made that in the last five years or so a global economic trend has emerged called nearshoring and that Mexico is one of its main beneficiaries. Broadly speaking the hypothesis is that globalisation – a world-wide movement to open up economies by reducing tariff and non-tariff barriers to trade - has run its course. At its peak globalisation brought millions out of poverty, expanded the global middle classes, and lifted living standards for large numbers of people.
