*Brazil’s national statistics institute (Ibge) has released its latest figures for the country’s industrial production, which showed a monthly rise of 1.1% in September and a 3.4% rise compared to September last year. The accumulated industrial production for the 12 months until September this year was up 2.6% from the previous 12-month period. The latest monthly increase in production comes after a very slight rise in production in August and a monthly decline in July. Of the 25 product categories measured, 12 registered a monthly rise in production in September. The greatest increases were registered in smoking products (+36.5%), printing & recording equipment (+6.9%), and coke, petroleum products, and biofuels (+4.3%).
