In brief: Mexico’s economic growth picks up

*Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) has released its latest figures on quarterly GDP growth, showing that in the third quarter of 2024, GDP expanded 1% as compared to the previous quarter. This follows quarterly growth of 0.2% in the second quarter of 2024. The GDP of activities in the primary sector (agriculture) was up 4.6% as compared to the previous quarter, with activities in the secondary sector (manufacturing) and tertiary sector (services) both up 0.9%. In yearly terms, GDP grew by 1.5% in the third quarter, with primary activities up 3.8%, tertiary activities up 1.9%, and secondary activities up 0.5%.
