CHILE-URUGUAY: Obstacles to Google plans for data centres

Back in 2019, tech giant Google announced plans to build a data centre in the metropolitan area of Chile’s capital Santiago. This would have added to a recently expanded data centre across town. Five years later, there is still no second data centre and, on 17 September, Google announced it was scrapping the original plan to build it.
