*Colombia’s state oil company, Ecopetrol, has confirmed a major natural gas discovery at its offshore ‘Sirius’ deposit, which was discovered in 2022 and is managed jointly with the Brazilian state oil company Petrobras. Ecopetrol said that the Sirius site contains an estimated 6trn cubic feet of natural gas, making it the company’s largest discovery “since the 1990s”. Ecopetrol is the dominant partner in the Sirius project, with a 55.56% stake, while Petrobras has a 44.44% stake.
