In brief: Annual inflation down, monthly inflation up in Uruguay

*Uruguay’s national statistics institute (INE) has released new figures which show Uruguay’s annual inflation rate reached 5.32% in September, down from 5.57% in August and 5.45% in July but up from 3.87% in September 2023. Monthly inflation in September stood at 0.37%, up from 0.29% the previous month and 0.11% in July but down from 0.61% in the same month of 2023. The accumulated rate for the year stood at 4.42%, slightly above the 4.21% recorded in the first nine months of 2023. Monthly inflation was mainly driven by food & non-alcoholic drinks (+0.58%), restaurants & accommodation services (+0.60%), and insurance & financial services (+1.15%).
