EL SALVADOR | Balancing the budget. The finance minister, Jerson Posada, presented a budget of US$9.66bn for 2025 to the legislative assembly on 30 September. Posada said that starting from next year the budget would be entirely self-funded as “El Salvador will no longer spend more than it brings in annually”. Posada said that a total of 37.4% of the budget would go on education (US$1.54bn), health (US$1.17bn), and security and defence (US$903m).
