ECUADOR: Noboa opens door to return of foreign military bases
US troops could potentially return to Ecuador in the near future, having been forced to leave the country in 2009 under the government of former president Rafael Correa (2007-2017). President Daniel Noboa announced on 16 September that he would seek a constitutional reform to enable the return of foreign troops in order to boost his government’s fight against criminal gangs.
