CHILE: Capital region shaken by violent crime wave

The government of President Gabriel Boric has announced more measures to address violent crime in Chile, including the deployment of more police and the construction of a new prison. Public concerns over insecurity rose following a series of murders in July in the Santiago Metropolitan Region (RM), as crime remains a major political challenge for Boric.
