MEXICO | New Pemex head named. On 26 August Mexico’s President-elect Claudia Sheinbaum named Víctor Rodríguez Padilla as the new CEO of the state-run oil company Pemex when her government takes office on 1 October. An academic, with degrees in energy engineering and energy economics, who most recently led energy systems studies in the engineering department of Mexico’s national university (Unam), Rodríguez has long-running ties with Sheinbaum, a fellow scientist, with whom he has co-authored several academic papers.
