*Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) has released new figures which show that the country recorded a trade deficit of US$72m in July 2024, compared to a deficit of US$645m in the same month of 2023 and a deficit of US$1.04bn in June. Exports in July grew 14.7% year-on-year to US$54.79bn, while imports grew by 13.3% to US$54.86bn. In the first seven months of the year, Mexico recorded a trade deficit of US$5.57bn, down from a deficit of US$7.15bn in the same period of 2023. From January to July, exports increased by 4.3% year-on-year, reaching US$354.18bn, while imports increased by 3.8% to US$359.75bn.
