In brief: Mexico growth tepid in Q2

*Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) has released its latest figures on quarterly GDP growth, showing that in the second quarter of 2024, GDP increased by 0.2% as compared to the previous quarter. The GDP of activities in the primary sector (agriculture) dropped by 0.2% as compared to the previous quarter, with activities in the secondary sector (manufacturing) up 0.3% and growing by 0.1% in the tertiary sector (services). In yearly terms, GDP grew by 1.0% in the second quarter, with tertiary activities up 1.5%, secondary activities up 0.4%, and primary activities down 2.5%. In the first half of 2024, GDP was up 1.4% as compared to the same period of 2023.
