Daniel Noboa has signed a US$30m credit agreement with France’s development agency (AFD), with the funds to be channelled through Ecuador’s public-sector finance institution, Corporación Nacional de Finanzas Populares y Solidarias (Conafips). Conafips will distribute the US$30m to credit and savings cooperatives, which will release the funding for projects related to bioeconomy (such as sustainable agriculture and non-timber forest products), adaptation to climate change, and female entrepreneurship.
