BRAZIL-CHILE: Lula and Boric deepen economic cooperation

Brazil’s President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva visited Chile on 5-6 August, his first state visit to Santiago in his current term. Media reports have focused on the divergences between Lula and Chile’s President Gabriel Boric regarding the disputed recent election in Venezuela, but the two left-wing leaders instead sought to use the visit as a chance to highlight their common ground, as government officials in the Brazilian delegations and their Chilean counterparts signed cooperation agreements covering a range of policy areas and economic sectors.
