*Brazil’s labour ministry has released the latest figures from its national employment registry (Novo Caged), which showed a net 201,705 new jobs created in June. This marks an increase from the 139,341 jobs created in May and the 157,198 new jobs in June 2023. There were 2.07m new hires in June this year and 1.87m job losses. All five sectors measured for the Novo Caged registered a net rise in jobs, with services (87,708 new jobs) and trade (33,412) posting the highest net increases. In the first six months of 2024, a net 1.3m new jobs were created, 55.14% of which were in the services sector (716,909).
