EL SALVADOR: Renewed rights concerns over state of exception

On 25 July seven local human rights groups in El Salvador issued a joint press release stating that between 27 March 2022 and 30 June 2024 they had received 6,426 reports of human rights violations which had taken place under the state of exception, which the authoritarian government led by President Nayib Bukele implemented in late March 2022 to tackle gangs.
