*Mexico’s President-elect Claudia Sheinbaum has announced a new social programme called ‘Hoy por ustedes, mañana por nosotros’ (Today for you, tomorrow for us) to provide medical care at home for senior citizens. The programme, set to begin during her presidency starting 1 October, aims to ensure that doctors and nurses visit elderly citizens at their homes, conduct medical examinations, and deliver necessary medications free of charge. This initiative builds on Sheinbaum’s ongoing collaboration with President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and complements the existing IMSS-Bienestar programme, a state-run service providing free medical services to those without social security. Sheinbaum also highlighted other planned support programmes such as financial aid for women aged 60-64, additional scholarships for children in public schools, and plans to extend passenger rail services through key regions.
