*The Latin American Development Bank (CAF) has approved two loans totalling US$465m to El Salvador for aviation infrastructure and digital connectivity. One loan worth US$320m will fund the ‘El Salvador Vuela’ programme, which includes constructing the Pacific International Airport, planned for La Unión department, remodelling the airport in Ilopango municipality, San Salvador department, and designing a new aerodrome. The other loan of US$145m will involve the deployment of the country’s first submarine cable, enhancing digital infrastructure and reducing international connectivity costs. These initiatives aim to boost tourism, improve resilience against natural disasters, and expand access to high-speed internet services, according to a CAF press release.
