Bolivia’s President Luis Arce announced the discovery on 15 July of a mega natural gas field containing an estimated 1.7 trillion cubic feet (TCF) of reserves, located in the department of La Paz, and which would generate a total of US$6.8bn in earnings for the country. It could not come at a better time for the embattled Arce.
