Godfrey Otunge, the officer in charge of the Kenyan contingent of the multinational security support mission (MSS) to Haiti, and Normil Rameau, the head of Haiti’s police (PNd’H), have given their first press conference since a deployment of 400 Kenyan MSS members who arrived in Haiti last month [WR-24-25]. Rameau highlighted plans to recover areas from the control of gangs which launched unprecedented attacks in late February, ultimately forcing out former prime minister Ariel Henry (2021-2014) [WR-24-10]. His comments came amid reports of a rare victory by the PNd’H - that it had retaken control of the country’s largest public hospital, Hôpital de l’Université d’Etat d’Haïti (HUEH), in the capital Port-au-Prince, one of the institutions targeted by the gangs in their February attacks.End of preview - This article contains approximately 709 words.
