NICARAGUA: Ortega dispenses with another ally
Nicaragua’s finance minister, Iván Acosta, has become the latest now- former ally of President Daniel Ortega to fall from grace. Last week the official gazette confirmed his departure, after over a decade in the post. Some discern in Acosta’s departure the latest signs of tensions within Ortega’s inner circle and specifically the influence of First Lady and Vice President Rosario Murillo.
