DOMINICAN REPUBLIC: Abinader re-election points to economic reforms

President Luis Abinader was re-elected on 19 May to a second four-year term with a comfortable 58% of the vote. Significantly his party, the Partido Revolucionario Moderno (PRM), won a clear majority in the bicameral congress, with 29 out of 32 senators and 146 out of 190 deputies. That means reforms are on the way.
