Mexico’s President-elect Claudia Sheinbaum received her first visit from a high-level US delegation on 11 June. The delegation was headed by White House Homeland Security Adviser Elizabeth Sherwood-Randall, who has made frequent visits to Mexico in the past year. The visit was an indication of the continued importance of Mexico in helping to stem the flow of irregular migration to the US, as well as combatting the production and trafficking of fentanyl and serving as a major trade partner.
