*The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) has announced plans to increase daily ship transits through the Canal from 32 to 33 starting 11 July, and to 34 from 22 July, following improvements in water levels due to the rainy season in the Gatún Lake watershed, which feeds the Canal. This adjustment aims to enhance Canal operations and accommodate more traffic. Additionally, the Canal’s maximum authorised vessel draft will increase from 45 to 46 feet on 15 June, allowing larger vessels to pass through. By 22 July, the Canal will see 25 daily transits through the Panamax locks and nine through the Neopanamax locks. The ACP expects these adjustments to positively impact the Canal’s operations, following previous revenue losses due to transit restrictions.
